CycleSac is an app and affiliated webmap developed by the Sacramento Area Council of Governments, including its officers, directors, employees, agents, suppliers, licensors, and its member agencies and their officer, directors, employees, agents, suppliers, and licensors (collectively “SACOG”) to help local agencies study and understand the needs of cyclists, so that the agencies can more effectively prioritize cycling infrastructure investments.
CycleSac offers you the ability to track and record your bicycle trip routes, times, and purposes, and to view the bicycle trip routes of others, while also allowing local transportation planners to study and base decisions on users’ actual bicycle usage. CycleSac may also be used in conjunction with May is Bike Month. Use of CycleSac requires your mobile device to have and use a data connection; your carrier’s normal rates and fees will apply.
This Privacy Policy explains how “personal information” is collected, used, and disclosed when you use CycleSac through your mobile device. “Personal information” is information that can directly be linked to an individual person including: name, addresses, photographs, age, gender, ethnicity, income, zip codes, cycling history, GPS data, your trip routes, time, speed, velocity and purposes, your iPhone's Unique Device Identifier (UDID) or Android phone's Device ID, your business name, and your contact information such as phone numbers and e-mail addresses (hereinafter “Personal Information”).
This Privacy Policy applies to all users of CycleSac. If you do not wish for CycleSac to use your personal information in the manner described herein, do not use CycleSac. SACOG may revise this Privacy Policy at any time, and will notify you of any changes in by posting the revised information here. Information collected. CycleSac uses your mobile device’s GPS capabilities to record your bicycle trip routes, times, speed, velocity and purposes, along with other information that you may elect to enter into the app (age, email, gender, ethnicity, home income, home zip, work zip, school zip, cycling frequency, rider type, rider history, etc.).
You consent to sharing information with the CycleSac community and the general public. By using CycleSac, you agree and acknowledge that we may disclose and make available to other CycleSac users, or to the general public on the CycleSac app or on a website, your Personal Information and bicycle routes. To protect your privacy, your trips will be shown anonymously and the precise start and end locations of your trips will be obscured from public view; trips will be available to the public based on cyclist characteristics and the route-specific information collected related to route purpose and route comfort. Neither CycleSac nor SACOG is responsible for monitoring content that you elect to share through your social networking account or for ensuring that your social networking account settings are appropriate.
You consent to sharing Personal Information with SACOG’s Planning Partners. By using CycleSac, you agree and acknowledge that the Personal Information recorded by CycleSac may be shared among members of SACOG, including transportation planners, as well related state agencies, transportation management associations, and other stakeholders (collectively “Planning Partners”) for analysis and use to inform their decisions about bicycle facilities in the region and to allow them to better understand and predict where cyclists will ride and how land developments and transportation infrastructure affect cycling activity. Personal Information transmitted to Planning Partners will include only trip information (which includes GPS data, your trip route, time, speed, velocity and purposes) and your iPhone's Unique Device Identifier (UDID) or Android phone's Device ID. Information transmitted to Planning Partners will not include other Personal Information unless you specifically authorize the disclosure of that information by entering that information into the CycleSac app.
Use and transfer of information for business and legal purposes. By using CycleSac, you acknowledge and agree that your aggregated or otherwise de-identifiable Personal Information may be used by CycleSac for any purpose and may be shared publicly or with CycleSac’s Planning Partners. Your information may be transferred from SACOG in the event CycleSac is transferred to one of its member agencies or stakeholders; if this happens, you will be notified of the change and your Personal Information will continue to be protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy. You acknowledge and agree that SACOG may access, preserve, and disclose your Personal Information if required to do so by law or in a good faith belief that such access or preservation or disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with a legal process, comply with the California Public Records Act, enforce the terms of use, or protect the rights, property, or safety of CycleSac, its users, and the public.
Data protection. In order to protect your Personal Information that is stored by CycleSac, we and our data center service providers have implemented various security measures to keep your Personal Information stored in a secure environment and treated confidentially. We will do our best to maintain the security of your Personal Information on our servers.
